Drawing with light

One eye sees, the other feels.” - Paul Klee

I remember the moment I “saw the light” for the first time. I was working as an art and freelance photographer in the then-gritty downtown Vancouver arts district in the late 1980’s.

As an artist who created images with a camera, it was a moment that changed me forever - not only in my craft, but how I saw and connected with my world. Cuban-French-American writer Anais Nin famously said, “ We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are” and I think this is especially true in the visual arts.

With a silver Kodak Instamatic 92 and a fresh pack of magicubes in my pocket, I started chasing that light at seven years old. My parents would gather me up in the summer months and our little trio would set out on what turned out to be life-changing adventures. Thanks to their wanderlust, I was able to capture moments from Milan to Malibu, Portland to Peru, Prague to Paris, London to Laguna Beach, Vancouver to Vienna.

Travelling the world with my camera has led me to discover amazing places and meet wonderfully kind, creative and inspiring people. I’m thrilled to be able to share some of those moments with you here. Check back from time to time; this is a fluid site, updated often.

Thanks for taking a look.
